The one-vehicle crash was reported at 8:05 a.m. on State Road 135, just north of Vallonia.

According to a Jackson County Sheriff’s Department report, Williams was driving a Pontiac Solstice north on Ind 135 when the vehicle left the road, traveled about 75 feet and crashed into a Duke Energy utility police.

Police say the engine compartment took most of the impact,  which caused the car to erupt in flames. Williams was able to escape the burning car.

Brownstown Town Marshal Tom Hanner assisted at the scene.
