Students in grades k-8 can enjoy Spring Break in YMCA style! Days will be filled with crafts, activities, and FUN-OLYMPICS GAMES that will entertain all campers. Students will participate in an array of fun, interactive, messy, and hands on Olympic style games in which they will take away the educational component, in addition to a life skills lesson related to the project. Character development will sneak in the back door for a wonderful take away experience for campers, and their families!
When asked about the theme chosen this year, Youth First Director Rosie Morehous stated, “Kids love group games and challenges! Anytime our youth have the chance to come together for an exciting and messy day it is always fun! We have managed to prepare a fun packed itinerary for our campers to do just that!”
In addition to the theme being of Olympic proportion, Morehous emphasized the “fun” label in the camp title. “We realize the importance of equipping our youth with the life skills needed to succeed in their future. By coupling life skills messages with the Olympic feats they will be doing, we look forward to offering important lessons and skills that will translate into bright futures for our youth,” stated Morehous.
Campers can expect to experience many fun Olympic challenges such as backward hurdles, synchronized snack toss, and ping-pong precission pitch.
They will also participate in a Javelin and discus throw, as well as several obstacle courses that will require a little creative thinking! These are just a few of the many fun and exciting activities that will be enjoyed by students.
Camp will be offered Monday thru Friday during spring break this year.
Campers are welcome to join in the fun from 7:00am—6:00pm. Students are encouraged to arrive by 8:00am daily in order to prevent missing out on fun the activities. Drop off and pick up will be in the YMCA Multi-purpose room daily.
