Terry Joe Wheeler, Sr., age 68 of Salem, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in St. Vincent Salem Hospital.
Born July 14, 1949 in Bedford, Indiana, he was the son of the late Austin C. and Laura R. (Baker) Wheeler.
He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Netshape and a former Captain with the Salem Fire Department. He served during the Vietnam War as a Builder 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy and served for 22 years in the Indiana National Guard. Terry had been a life resident of Washington County, was a graduate of West Washington High School and was a member of the Salem American Legion Cecil Grimes Post #41.
Survivors include: Son Joey (Tricia) Wheeler of Salem; Daughter: Lisa Wheeler of Scottsburg; 5 Brothers: John and James Wheeler of Campbellsburg, Donnie Wheeler of Denver, Colorado and Jarold and Richard Wheeler of Salem; 1 Sister: Janice Tye of Salem and 4 grandsons: Logan Jackson and Chase, Colton and Cain Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister: Marsha Bishop and 4 brothers: Troy, Leroy, Michael and Roger Wheeler.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday at Dawalt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Saltillo Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Friday and after 9 am Saturday.
