Henry F. Cruz, 93, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at the Ossian Health and Rehabilitation in Ossian, Indiana. 

He was born on October 2, 1927 in Agana, Guam, the son of the late Jesus Duenas Cruz and Julianna Sabra (Flores) Cruz. 

Henry moved to the United States as a young man and graduated from Oakland City High School in Oakland City, Indiana.  He would later attend and earn a Bachelor’s Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Henry was a former employee of the old ICI Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, Indiana, was also a school bus driver for Scott County School District II for many years and served as the caregiver for Pisgah Cemetery in Deputy, Indiana for over 30 years. 

He was a member of the Alpha Baptist Church Deputy, Indiana, where he had served as the former pastor for 19 years and had served as a substitute Pastor at many of the Coffee Creek Association area churches. 

Henry was also a missionary.  He was a prisoner of war after the Japanese army invaded Guam during W.W. II.  In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Faye D. Cruz on Nov. 20, 2016; six brothers, Robert, Albert, Teddy, Henry, Tomas and David Cruz and three sisters, Rosaline Taitano, Lydia Mann and an infant sister also named Lydia. 

Survivors include a daughter, Emily Cruz of Columbus, Indiana; a son, Timothy David Cruz and his wife Beverly of Deputy, Indiana; two brothers, Peter and Daniel Cruz of Guam; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Private services were held on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at the Alpha Baptist Church in Deputy, Indiana with Rev. Stan Carroll officiating.  Interment was in Pisgah Cemetery in Deputy, Indiana.
