Churchill Downs – the home of the Kentucky Derby – will illuminate its iconic Twin Spires with a red glow in support of nearby University of Louisville as the women’s basketball team competes in the Final Four of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Louisville, a one seed and the winner of the Wichita region, will face top-ranked Greensboro region winner South Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
The Twin Spires have been a popular and signature symbol of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby since their completion in 1895.
The 148th running of the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve, the iconic American sports and Thoroughbred racing celebration held each year on the first Saturday in May, will be staged in five weeks on Saturday, May 7.
