Shortly after midnight on Friday, March 22, troopers from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg responded to a reported stabbing at 210 West County Line Road in Scott County.
When troopers arrived they encountered the victim, Jeffery Campbell, 39, from Crothersville, IN, who had received at least two stab wounds. He was immediately transported to the Scott Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries by Scott County E.M.S.
The person who allegedly did the stabbing, William Carl Bryant, 47, from Scottsburg, IN, fled the scene before officers arrived but was located quickly a couple hundred yards from where the crime occurred by a deputy from Scott County.
The stabbing was alleged to have occurred after an argument broke out between Jeffery Campbell and William Carl Bryant who were at the residence with others socializing.
William Carl Bryant was arrested and incarcerated at the Scott County Jail on the charges of Aggravated Battery, B Felony and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, C Felony. This investigation is continuing.
