Corydon woman killed; granddaughter taken to Kosair

This morning at approximately 7:26 am, troopers from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg and deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a serious crash on State Road #135 at the intersection of Fairview Church Road in Harrison County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Jeep, being driven by Denise L. Meitzler, 53, from Corydon, IN, was travelling east bound on Fairview Church Road.

When she approached the intersection of State Road #135 she ran the stop sign and entered onto State Road #135 where she was then struck in the passenger’s side, by a 1998 Dodge pickup truck being driven north bound by Paul F. Roberts, 21, from New Salisbury, IN.

Denise Meitzler was transporting her grandchild, Gabriel Redmon, six years old at the time of the crash.

All three people were transported by ambulance to the Harrison County Hospital where Denise Meitzler was pronounced dead.

Gabriel Redmon was transferred from the Harrison County Hospital by air ambulance to the Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY with serious injuries and Paul Roberts suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Seat belts and safety restraints were in use by all involved in the crash.
