The first annual Mr. Salem High School “beauty” pageant is Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $8 at the door, and VIP seating tickets are $10.
According to Jerry Hickey, this is a fundraiser for the Salem Lady Lions basketball team. He’s hoping to raise about $3,000 through t-shirt sponsorships and ticket sales.
Assistant Principal and Lady Lions Girls Coach Jerry Hickey says there are eight entries in the contest, with two boys participating together, making nine contestants.
Those competing for the Title of Mr. Salem are:
* Kody Kramer and Andrew Maudlin, as a group entry
* Kade Roach
* Noah Pastor
* Logan Thompson
* Davon Gant
* Zac Ray
* Wade LaHue
* Zack Turner
Hickey is hoping to raise about $3,000 for the girls’ basketball program.
The contestants will do a choreographed dance routine, compete in a casual wear portion, where they will wear an outfit that defines who they are, a three minute talent performance, an evening wear portion, where contestants will come out in tuxes with escorts and answer a question.
Three judges will evaluate the men’s talents. WSLM’s Becky White is one of the judges. Participants can add to their score by collecting donations.
During a short intermission, where the high school choir will perform, votes will be tallied and then a Mr. Salem crowned.
