They found 45-year-old Jeff Rottet, of Huntingburg. He had been deer hunting when he died of what appears to be medical complications.

An autopsy was performed Thursday morning at Schneck Memorial Hospital and an official cause of death was determined. According to the Jackson County Coroner, Rottet died as a result of cardiac arrest.

Just before 7 p.m., Conservation Officers, along with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Jackson County EMS, responded to the Refuge, outside of Seymour.

Rottet, who had been hunting separately, was to reunite with a group of hunters, but failed to return to their vehicle.

Rottet was found by his friends, unresponsive and taken from the woods by EMS personnel.
