Double Murder Suspect’s Vehicle Found, Suspects Remain At-Large

The vehicle owned by a Marengo, IN man wanted on multiple murder charges has been located in rural Harrison County.

A red and gray 1991 Dodge Ram truck, driven by John R. Carpenter, 35, Marengo, was recovered after 9:00 P.M. Thursday in a woods just east of Dixie Road, approximately one mile east of New Amsterdam.

Carpenter is wanted on Murder charges in Orange County for his involvement in the Monday double homicide and triple shooting north of Paoli.

Investigators and detectives received tips and information that led them to Dixie Road Thursday evening. Upon finding the Dodge truck, extensive searches utilizing multiple State Police K-9 units from the Jasper and Evansville Districts were conducted with the hopes of finding Carpenter; however, Carpenter was not located.

The vehicle was secured and impounded at a secure location, where crime scene technicians will search the vehicle for additional clues and information Friday morning.

Both Carpenter and James Davidson, 36, Marengo, the third suspect wanted for murder for his involvement in the crime, remain at-large.
