A Loogootee man was arrested tonight as a result of an investigation into the battery of a nine month old infant.
In custody is Arvel R. Griffey, Jr., 24, 12924 East US 50, Loogootee. He is charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age. This is a Level 3 Felony.
On July 30, Troopers with the Jasper Post received a complaint of a possible battery on a nine month old boy.
Medical personnel at Memorial Hospital indicated that the boy had sustained an injury to his genitalia that consisted of bleeding and swelling.
In working with the Indiana Child Protective Services, Troopers were able to determine that Griffey Jr. had battered the child while in a car while Griffey was being taken back to the Dubois County Community Corrections Center.
After conferring with the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office, Troopers had probable cause to arrest Griffey Friday night at the Dubois County Community Corrections Center.
He was arrested without incident and transported to the Dubois County Jail. He is being held without bond.
