Starting off Season Four of INSIDE IU WITH DON FISCHER on WSLM Monday morning, the Hall of Fame broadcaster revealed he was in the San Francisco Earthquake on Sunday morning.
When show host Becky White asked him how he was doing, he answered, “Much better today than I was yesterday,” said Fischer.
Fischer noted he was in Sonoma for a wedding and was awakened by the 6.1 magnitude quake.
“It woke me up out of a dead sleep,” said Fischer. “I woke up at 3:20 in the morning. You just hope it passes. It was an interesting experience to say the least. It was stunning how strong it was. It felt like you were hitting an airport runway, in a very rough landing, for at least 10-15 seconds. That’s what it felt like.”
Fischer said that wasn’t his first earthquake, recalling the quake that hit in Southern Indiana in the early 90s.
“I experienced a shorter version years ago. An earthquake in Indiana…..before 95. There was an earthquake in this area. I was sitting in my living room watching television and it felt like someone had jumped on the porch. Just a second or two,” he said.
