A Salem man is in critical condition after a moped accident earlier today on State Road 56 East involving another vehicle.
Ronald Freed, Salem, was driving a moped on State Road 56 East when he was struck by a Teal van drivin by Charlotte Lykins of Salem.
Freed was taken by helicopter ambulance to the University of Louisville, according to Capt. Scott Schocke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Lykins was traveling east and was attempting to pass Freed, when he turned the moped into a driveway at 6394 Old State Road 56 East.
Lykins struck the moped in the rear.
The report is still under investigation. Also assisting were Lt. Jimmy Strange, Sheriff Claude Combs, Gibson Volunteer Fire Department and the Indiana State Police.
