Early this morning around 4:15 am, Trooper Patrick Stinson from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg was on regular patrol when he saw a white SUV exit the construction staging area near 9th Street and Interstate #65 in Jeffersonville without any headlights on.
Trooper Stinson stopped the SUV and spoke to the driver identified as Jeanmel V. Hawkins, 35, from Jeffersonville.
During the conversation with Jeanmel V. Hawkins Trooper Stinson discovered the vehicle was loaded with green steel rebar used in the construction of highways and bridges.
Trooper Stinson placed Jeanmel V. Hawkins under arrest for Theft and Possession of Stolen Property.
