Cleaning out your closets? Donate your “gently used” prom dresses and formal gowns to the First Annual WSLM SAY YES TO THE PROM DRESS event on Saturday, Feb. 21.

WSLM RADIO is collecting prom dresses and gowns as well as all accessories — including purses, shoes, gloves, jewelry and hair accessories — for an upcoming event for girls in the WSLM listening area.

PROM SHOW

“Prom season is upon us and I want all the girls in the Kentuckiana area to experience the prom,” said Becky White, WSLM Owner and General Manager.

“I know some girls don’t have the resources to go to the prom. My goal is that any girl who wants to go to the prom, can get a dress at this event and have the chance to not only look beautiful on the outside but to have an experience that makes her feel like a princess on the inside.”

The WSLM Prom Fashion Show and Dress Giveaway will take place in the Salem High School Presentation Room on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1p. The event is free and open to teen girls in the Kentuckiana area.

Dillard’s of Clarksville will be on hand to show off the latest styles and fashions in a show involving local girls as models.

“Girls can come in and see the latest fashions. If they can and are able to purchase a dress, then they will see what’s hot for 2015,” said White. “However, if they can’t afford a new dress, we will have a variety of gently used items that have been donated for them to take and wear to the prom.”

Also, there will be a hair and makeup demonstration from 56 West. Linck’s Clothing will be on hand to show off Tuxedo’s and to assist with alterations.

There will be door prizes and girls will have the chance to win a $3000 Dillard’s Shopping Spree as well as a Prom Prize pack.

Dillard’s is working with Seventeen magazine with its YOUR POLISHED PROM SWEEPSTAKES. During this event, customers can enter for a chance to win by trying on their favorite prom dresses at Dillards.

“Girls then take their picture in the dress and post them to Instagram using the hashtag #dillardsprom2015 and tag @dillardstores,” said Emily Beck of Dillard’s.

Beck said ten finalists will be chosen and the picture with the most votes will win.

Pictures must be posted between Feb. 7 and March 21st. Voting will take place between March 25 and April 1 and winners will be announced by April 3.

First prize is a $3000 Dillard’s Gift Card and a style consultation with a Seventeen Style Pro via Skype, professional hair and makeup for the winner and five friends, limo service to and from their prom, a professional photographer to capture the night and one Seventeen Swag Bag for the winner and her five friends.

Second prize is a $2000 Dillard’s gift card and a Seventeen Swag Bag.

Third Dillard’s Gift Card and a Seventeen Swag Bag.

The seven remaining finalists will each receive a Seventeen Swag Bag.

There’s still time to donate dresses, gowns and accessories.
