One man from North Carolina is dead and another from Bedford is in the hospital in Louisville after an arguement turned deadly this morning in Paoli.
Michael Dale Kilpatrick, 48, of Saint Pauls, North Carolina was pronounced dead earlier today after he was taken by ambulance to IU Health of Paoli, where he died of his self-inflicted wounds. All efforts by the Indiana State Police Department to locate and notify relatives have, so far, been unsuccessful.
According to the Indiana State Police, Kieth Wagner, 30, Bedford, began arguing with Kilpatrick in the north driveway of Classic Muscle Cars and Parts, located along State Road 37 at County Farm Road.
The argument escalated into a fight, and Kilpatrick and Wagner began wrestling in the driveway.
A short time later, Wagner ran from the fight and locked himself inside a building.
Kilpatrick followed Wagner to the building and began beating on the window. Afraid that Kilpatrick was going to break out the business glass, Wagner unlocked the door and let Kilpatrick and a witness inside.
Once inside, Kilpatrick shot Wagner in the abdomen and neck at point blank range. Kilpatrick turned his weapon on the witness and fired additional shots but missed.
As Kilpatrick ran from the building behind the business, Orange County Deputies and Indiana State Troopers arrived on scene, attempting to locate Kilpatrick.
After reaching a tree line behind the business, Kilpatrick shot himself.
Kilpatrick was taken by ambulance to IU Health of Paoli and Wagner was airlifted to the University of Louisville hospital in Louisville, KY and is currently being treated for his injuries.
