Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor for the $4,216,800 State Road 56 project from High Street to Heritage Chapel Road at Salem has re-set its timeline for Phase I closure of the east-west highway to Wednesday, March 11. At that time, S.R. 56 will close from High Street to just west of the apartments and Country Cookin’.

This closure will be in effect for approximately two weeks.
A detour will be signed.
Temple & Temple Excavating is reconstructing S.R. 56 through Salem. This includes new sidewalks, curb ramps, retaining walls and storm sewers. In the county, S.R. 56 will be repaired and resurfaced. This work includes widening shoulders, building passing blisters and replacing drainage structures.
