Lady Lions Play for Softball Title Thursday Night

The Salem Lady Lions Softball team is riding a 19-game wining streak into Thursday’s Class 3A Sectional Final against the Brownstown Lady Braves.

The Lions defeated the  Charlestown Pirates, 3-0 Monday night to get into Thursday’s final game. th

The Pirates rallied to beat Salem last week to tie the Lions for the Mid-Southern Conference title, but the Lions are going for the Sectional title.

Brownstown advanced to the semifinal round with an 8-1 win over Silver Creek early on Monday and then coasted by Corydon Central, 6-0 to earn the right to face the Lions.

Both Salem and Brownstown have a 14-15 record. Salem has a 19-8 overall record with a 7-2 conference record. Salem has won 10 games at home and one has one home loss. Salem is 6-7 in away games.

Brownstown is 20-8 overall and is 8-5 at home and 9-2 away.

The Braves are ranked 79th in Indiana, according to Max Preps. Salem is ranked 93rd in Indiana.
