Boy Scouts of America Trooop 4029 in Salem is hosting a ride for Ben and Katie Morris, both Salem students who have both been diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy.
Katie received a heart transplant last year. Earlier this year, Ben, who was an 8th grader at Salem Middle School at the time, was diagnosed with the same condition.
Ben is a member of Troop 4029 and the Boy Scouts are working to help raise money to help the family with medical expenses.
Registration begins at 10:00a on Saturday, August 15 at Salem High School. There is a poker ran set for 11:30a.
The ride is a family friendly event with no alcohol, said Troop sponsor Jonathan Smith.
The price is $10 for single riders and $15 for double. Cars are welcome to join in for $10 for a driver and $5 for each passenger.
Lunch is included. The ride will end back at Salem High School in time for a meal and silent auction at 5p. The meal is $7 per plate in case supporters would like to come after the ride.
Ace Hardware has donated a $100 gift card for the best hand in the poker run. Other prizes have been donated by local businesses.
