Within the last 24 hours, the Salem Police Department has taken several reports of counterfeit fifty dollar bills.
“Please tell your employees to check the money they receive carefully,” said Major Scott Ratts. “The bills have been passed by two young white females driving a gray Chevrolet Cavalier with black rims.”
Ratts said the bills were passed at Family Dollar and Circle K.
“We have obtained video of the females and we will post the pictures of them tomorrow,” Ratts noted.
The bills were checked with a counterfeit detection pen and PASSED.
Ratts said the police department does not recommenced the use of these type of pens because of their unreliability.
