Charles E. “Charlie” Fessel, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville surrounded by He was born May 8, 1928 to George H. and Theresa (Timperman) Fessel in New Salisbury, Indiana. Charles was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford, Indiana. He served on a number of ministries and committees, including four parish building committees.
He retired from Public Service Indiana (Duke Energy) as district engineer on Dec. 31, 1989 after 35 years of service. He continued to serve the community as a volunteer with the American Heart Assoc., former member Harrison County planning and zoning, New Salisbury medical clinic board member, and others.
He was a member of the Palmyra Lions Club and loved wood working and golf.
Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie (Nolot) Fessel, son Brian (Jackie), Columbus, Ohio, grandchildren Mark and Molly, brother Jerome (Cheryl), Ramsey, sisters Mary Catherine Schueler, Owensboro, Ky., Margaret (Jerome) Smith, New Salisbury, and Carolyn Schueler, Lanesville, aunt, Marie Schroeder, Corydon and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael, and brothers Marvin, Phillip and Harold.
His funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Bradford, 11400 Farmers Lane NE, Greenville, IN 47124 with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Love Funeral
