A Martin County man arrested on multiple criminal warrants earned new drug charges while being booked in jail.
Day was wanted on three felony warrants through Martin County.
Since Deputy Dant was in Daviess County at the time, Daviess County Deputy Aaron Harbstreit assisted Deputy Dant, and placed him into custody on the arrest warrants.
Deputy Harbstreit contacted State Police Senior Trooper Jarrod Lents and asked if Lents could transport Day to the Martin County Jail.
Trooper Lents asked Day multiple times if he was in possession of any drugs; Day said he was not. While going through Day’s property at the Martin County Jail, Lents found a small plastic baggie containing a clear, crystal substance. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Day was lodged without incident in the Martin County Jail on the criminal warrants as well as the new charges of possessing methamphetamine.
