Cecil Bentley “Shotgun” Lewis, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016 at his home. He was born April 2, 1930 in New Albany, Indiana to Lee Roy and Laura Mae (Gibson) Lewis.
On July 28, 1950 he married Mary Charleen (Duncan) Lewis and she survives.
He was a retired pipe fitter for Local 502 in Louisville, Kentucky and a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church. Cecil graduated from Pekin High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Korea. He enjoyed fishing, picnicking and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Tony Lee (Tina) Lewis of Salem, Indiana, five daughters, Linda Carol (Jackie) Skinner of English, Indiana, Janice Elaine (Joe) Tabler of Borden, Indiana, Shirley Mae (Jim) McDaniel of Huntingburg, Indiana, Tammy Sue Kling of Hardinsburg, Indiana and Holly Michelle (Kirk) Armes of Palmyra, Indiana. One brother, Leroy Lewis of Oklahoma along with 24 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 30 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Cecil Alan Lewis and Paul Shaun Lewis and one brother, Elsworth Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, Indiana. Burial will follow in Horner’s Chapel Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 and Thursday, 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home.
