Gene Stewart Glass Wozniak, 89 was born August 23, 1926 in Louisville, Kentucky to Frances Miller Glass and William Edward Glass.

Gene Wozniak was an art teacher with the Salem School Corporation for many years.

Wozniak graduated from Ward Belmont, a girls finishing school in Nashville, Tennessee, and she earned her Art and Education Bachelor’s degree at George Peabody School for Teachers in Nashville, TN. She later earned a Master’s degree in Art Education from Indiana University Bloomington.

Gene is preceded in death by both her mother Frances Miller Glass and William Edward Glass, a sister Marjorie Glass Stoikovic, and husband, Joseph John Wozniak. She is survived by two daughters, Gene W. Dilts (Matt) of Miller Beach, IN and Katherine W. Williams of Salem, two grandchildren, Benjamin Dilts and Elizabeth Dilts and dear friend Jim Thixton.

Gene Stewart was a founding member of the Cyrus Grable Chapter of Daughters of the Union in Louisville, KY a long standing member of the Christopher Harrison chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Beta Tau Chapter of Tri Kappa, Indiana University Lifetime Alumnus, Salem Retired Teachers Association, and the Salem Presbyterian Church.

Geneie began her teaching career in Baltimore, Maryland working in the Baltimore County Schools. She later returned to Salem to start a family and resumed her teaching career in the Salem Community Schools. Geneie taught all three grades levels at one time or another within the Salem Schools. She retired at the age of 60 with 39 years of service teaching children art.
