JAMES CHARLES SHIELDS (JIM) 59, the son of Norman and
Saralee Watts Shields was born February 13, 1957 in Jefferson
County, Indiana.
He was a 1975 graduate of Salem High School and was also the retired owner of Jim Shields Construction in Salem. He died at his home in northern Washington County, Indiana on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Norman proceeded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, a brother Mark (Jill) Shields, of
Vincennes; sisters Sara Shields of Wyoming and Susan
Shields of Salem; four nieces – Stacy, Katherine, Becky
and Abby, one nephew, Moe; one great niece, Norah; numerous
cousins and all of his great friends who lived or visited in the “holler.”
Jim found his life work as a skillful concrete builder, block and brick mason which he learned from his grandfather, Charlie Shrum.
At his request, Jim was cremated. There will be no visitation or funeral.
Graveside services for family and friends at Crown Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, June 8th at 11:00 am.
