There will be a mandatory preseason P&R Youth Football coaches meeting Thursday, July 21, 7:00pm in City Hall.
Coaches must have an application on file, approved by the Park Board, and be 2016 Level 1 online certified through USA Heads-Up Football in order to coach.
USA Football, Heads Up Program, stresses the following:
- Level 1 online coaching certification for all Youth Football coaches.
- Proper equipment fitting.
- Concussion recognition and response.
- Heat preparedness and hydration.
- Sudden cardiac arrest plan and procedure.
- Heads Up tackling.
- Heads Up blocking.
- A Player Safety Coach in place.
Parents must also attend a meeting going over general procedures, rules, and safety concerns. These meetings will be required and held during sign ups and the issuing of equipment dates.
The Salem Parks and Rec. Youth Football Organization has been a USA Football/Heads Up participant since 2014.
Sign-ups will be held Sunday, July 31 /1-4pm and Sunday August 7 /1-3pm, in the Salem High School Auxiliary Gym. The program is for Salem, West Washington and East Washington students grades 3rd&4th , 5th&6th. The fee is $40.00 per player.
The season will begin September 11th running approximately 6-7 weeks.
