WSLM Airing Live Debates On Local, State and National Scene

Being informed will hopefully help voters make better decisions.

WSLM has worked hard over the last few days to set up coverage of state and national debates and also to set up a local forum for Washington County candidates.

WSLM hopes to better information its listeners through live coverage of these debates.

2016-ELECTION

 

WSLM aired the first presidential debate Monday evening as well as the first Indiana Governor’s debate on Tuesday.

White is planning another local Election Forum for local candidates on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at City Hall from 6-8p.

WSLM will broadcast another Governor’s debate on Monday Oct. 3rd from 7p-8p (which will be the time of any remaining debates), again featuring the candidates for Governor.  This debate will held at the University of Indianapolis.

There are two additional debates to announce — the 1st Senatorial debate between Todd Young and Evan Bayh will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18th in Fort Wayne, with the time of broadcast between 7-8p.

Then, the third and final gubernatorial debate will be held on Oct. 25th in Evansville, also from 7p-8p.

There is still an effort to schedule an additional Senatorial debate the first week in November before the election on November 8th.

WSLM will also broadcast the Vice Presidential debate on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 ~ Longwood University, Farmville, VA

WSLM coverage of each presidential debate will begin precisely at 9:00 pm ET and is scheduled to run approximately 90 seconds with no commercial breaks.

Sunday, October 9, 2016
Second presidential debate
TV Moderator: Martha Raddatz, Chief Global Affairs Correspondent and Co-Anchor of “This Week,” ABC
TV Moderator: Anderson Cooper, Anchor, CNN
Location: Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO

The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which half of the questions will be posed directly by citizen participants and the other half will be posed by the moderator based on topics of broad public interest as reflected in social media and other sources.

The candidates will have two minutes to respond and there will be an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate further discussion.

The town meeting participants will be uncommitted voters selected by the Gallup Organization.

Third presidential debate
TV Moderator: Chris Wallace, Anchor, Fox News Sunday
Location: University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Las Vegas, NV

The format for the third debate will be identical to the first presidential debate.

WSLM’s coverage will be anchored by Chas Henry, with on-scene reporting by correspondents Bob Costantini, Steve Kastenbaum, Jim Roope and Karin Caifa.
