This is an aerial view of the Salem town square in 1939.
According to Washington County Historian Jeremy Elliott, the photo shows the southeast corner, with the old Etzler’s Opera House still standing where the Salem Police Dept. is today.
“Also you can see the old State Bank of Salem & the 2 story house that sat in the NE corner alley,” Elliott noted.
