Jackie D. Smith, age 69, passed away Sunday,
October 23, 2016 peacefully at his home. Jackie was born June 15, 1947
in Indianapolis, Indiana. He married Gwendolyn (New) Smith on
September 1, 1972.
Jackie retired from the Army after 27 years of service.
He was a member of Charity Baptist Church and was a lifetime member
of the VFW, and the Kentucky Cutlery Association, where he was a past
president.
Jackie enjoyed collecting knives, woodworking, and collecting coins.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn (New) Smith; sons, Daniel and
Jonathan Rodgers; brothers Bruce and Gary Armstrong; sister, Mary
Alice Sapp; and his grandchildren, Jaden Harris, Chloe Harris, Lillian
Harris, Raelyn Rodgers, and Gunner Dean Rodgers.
He is preceded in death by his mother; Doris Smith; his step father,
Homer Armstrong; and his sister Cindy Armstrong.
Funeral will be on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation
will be on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at
Love Funeral Home and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of funeral
at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family for
funeral expenses.
