WSLM will be hosting three fundraisers this week for local charities and will be closing the week out with a Pumpkin’ Chunkin event on Friday, Nov. 18th at 3pm on the East Side of the Walmart Parking Lot to raise funds for Shop With A Cop.
The vehicle is being provided by Partin’s Salvage.
“This canon is air injected from an air compressor and shoots out pumpkins contained in 5-gallon buckets from inside the cannon,” said White. “This is high speed and high impact fun.”
There will be a backdrop to contain the vehicular and pumpkin debris. Participants will have goggles to wear as they push the button that launches pumpkins at the vehicle.
The cost to shoot a pumpkin is $6 per shot or 2 shots for $10.
Shop With A Cop provides clothing to needy children in the community.

In addition, WSLM will present the First Annual Fire Truck Pull to raise money for Special Olympics.
Who’s the strongest in Salem? Find out on Wednesday, Nov. 16 when local groups get together to pull a 15 ton fire truck at the Walmart parking lot in Salem from 5pm-7pm.
Teams of 15 people each will play tug-of-war with a 30,000-pound plus fire truck to help raise money and awareness for Special Olympics of Washington County.
The team with the fastest pull time becomes champion.
Trophies and prizes will be given. Registrations is $10 per person or $150 per team.
Teams with fewer than 10 pullers will be given fill-ins. Walk-ups are welcome in the Fire Truck Pull.
According to Michelle DeWitt, Washington County Special Olympics Indiana Coordinator, the money raised to benefit the athletes of this county would be used to help purchase the proper clothes for competition.
Many of our athletes do not have the proper clothing or shoes but strive to be in better physical health. Their efforts are hindered tremendously when they don’t have the proper equipment.
Turkey Toss For Hunger contest in the Walmart parking lot on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 10am to Noon and serves as a fundraiser for the Washington County Food Bank.
Participants get to see who can hurl a frozen turkey the greatest distance. The entry fee is 10 canned goods or $10.
WSLM will be broadcasting LIVE from the new Walmart during this time during their Grand Opening festivities. Registration will be taken during that time.
The competition consists of multiple divisions: Men’s, Women’s, Kid’s 12 & Under, High Heels and Military. Contestants must donate to enter and can only win one division.
The top 3 throws in each division will receive a certificate for a free Butterball turkey and a Walmart gift card.
Those interested in participating must donate a nonperishable food item or money.
