Frank Nobles, age 68 of Salem, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at 4:50 pm, in Norton Hospital Louisville.
Born August 8, 1948 in Whiteville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Julius Carr and Virginia Pearl (Elliot) Nobles.
He retired in 1994 as a Sgt. 1st Class in the U. S. Army and was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Frank was a Washington County Councilman, a former officer with the Salem Police Department and a life member of the NRA.
He was a member of the New Salem First Church of God, had been a resident of Washington County since 1978, formerly of Austin, Texas and was a graduate of Columbus County High School in Chadbourn North Carolina.
Frank married April 22,1978 to Glenda Kay (Sherron) Nobles, who survives.
Also surviving are: Daughter: Michelle (David) Nicholson, Campbellsburg; 3 Sons: David (Brandi) Nobles, Cary, North Carolina, Bob (Michele) Bridgewater, Casper, Wyoming and Ryan (Julia) Nobles, Henryville; 2 Brothers: Michael Nobles, Dripping Springs, Texas and Eliot Greene, Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home with Pastor David Lewis and Bernard Jackson officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Thursday and 9 am until the time of the service on Friday. Interment will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
