The 2017 sectional pairings for the IHSAA state tournament were announced Sunday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and heard LIVE on WSLM 97.9 FM and 1220 AM.
The sectionals begin Jan. 31 and run through Feb. 4.
Tickets at all locations are $10 each.
Here are the postseason pairings for local schools:
CLASS 4A AT FLOYD CENTRAL
Host Floyd Central (11-9) was the only local team that did not draw a bye. The Highlanders open with Jennings County (5-13).
New Albany (12-5) will play the winner of the Panthers and Highlanders.
Jeffersonville (12-7) also drew a bye. The Red Devils will play the winner of defending champ Bedford North Lawrence (14-4) and Seymour (14-5). The Devils and Owls play Tuesday in Seymour with Jeff having a chance to clinch at least a share of the HHC title.
CLASS 3A AT CORYDON
Silver Creek (8-12) received a tough draw in Sectional 30. The Dragons open with North Harrison (18-1), last year’s state runner up and currently the No. 1 team in Class 3A. The winner of that matchup faces Corydon Central (11-9), which drew the bye.
On the bottom half of the bracket, Charlestown (10-9) opens with Salem (10-9). The winner of that game faces the winner of Brownstown Central (13-8) and Scottsburg (12-7).
CLASS 2A AT PROVIDENCE
In Sectional 46, Providence (14-5) will look to defend its crown. The Pioneers open up with Henryville (10-8). The winner of the Providence-Henryville game will play Clarksville (2-19), which drew a first-round bye.
Paoli (11-9) drew the bye on the top half of the bracket. The winner of Crawford County (14-4) and Eastern (12-7) will face Paoli in the semifinal.
CLASS A AT NEW WASHINGTON
Christian Academy (6-10) and New Washington (8-11) face off in a quarterfinal matchup. Rock Creek (4-14) is up against Madison Shawe (11-9) in the other quarterfinal. Lanesville (5-15) and defending champion South Central (12-6) drew the byes.
CLASS A AT ORLEANS
The only local school in Sectional 61, Borden will open with West Washington (11-9). Medora (2-11) and defending champion Orleans (4-12) drew the opening round byes. The other quarterfinal features Crothersville (13-6) and Trinity Lutheran (8-12).
