Congratulations to Deb Wrye on being selected as the January Teacher of the Month for Salem Community Schools.
Deb was selected because she received a very heartfelt nomination about her teaching of her students and preparing them for high school and even college.
Here is an exert from one parent’s letter nominating Wrye:

“She has been an amazingly wonderful influence in the lives of my kid’s. Additionally, she has taught all three of my kid’s to research, think critically, and write argumentatively. [My children] have thrived under her guidance the past three years in her social studies classes, and I am truly sad Mrs. Wrye cannot follow them to high school … In addition to all this, Mrs. Wrye has provided my children (and so many others) with so many experiences from field trips to mock trials to ancient Roman games to food from other cultures and so much more. She has probably spent more on my kids than I have in school supplies. My kids have had some great teachers, but not many can come close to the impact Mrs. Wrye has had on them.”
Deb is a teacher at Salem Middle School.
One nomination said that Deb works hard and cares about her students. She infuses her love of social studies with humor and with work that will help her students learn.
A former student said that Mrs. Wrye was her favorite teacher and facilitated her love for learning about social studies and politics.
“We would like to thank Becky White of WSLM, Papa John’s, and Linck’s Clothing on the prizes awarded to Deb for her award,” said Bradie Shrum Elementary Principal Brent Minton. “She received a certificate, t-shirt, Yeti Cup, and Cinnamon Pull Aparts. Also, we would like to thank Roxanne Nantz for her sponsorship of a prize to the Teacher of the Month.”
