Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor is placing construction signs along State Road 56 at a culvert replacement site in Finley Township of Scott County near the Washington County line. Installation of this new 3-sided concrete culvert at Weddle Creek will require closing the east-west highway for up to 45 days.
INDOT officials anticipate removal of the existing drainage structure will begin on Monday, March 20. At that time, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 256, S.R. 39 and Interstate 65.
S.R. 56 traffic count at Weddle Creek is 4790 vehicles per day.
Milestone is the state’s contractor for this $1,032,400 project which also includes replacement of a culvert on U.S. Highway 31 at Nest Run Creek 0.61 miles north of S.R. 356 in Vienna Township.
