James Roger Sherman, age 81 of Salem, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at 10:14 am, in the Schneck Medical Center at Seymour.
Born September 17, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Justin Elmer Sherman and Ruth Marie (Powell) Sherman.
He was a retired Steam Fitter with Union Local #250 for 25 years and drove a truck for 10 years for Schaffer Trucking Company after he retired.
He served during the Korean War as a Specialist 3rd Class in the U.S. Army, had been a resident of Washington County for the past 11 years, formerly of Anaheim, California, was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Long Beach, California and was an avid golfer and a member of Western Hills Country Club.
He married July 3, 1961 to Charlotte Louise (Spicer) Sherman, who survives. Also surviving are 4 Sons: James Roger Sherman Jr., Fountain Valley, California, John Robert Sherman, Salem, Jeffery Randall Sherman, Anaheim, California and Jerrold Ray Sherman, Salem; Daughter: Darlene Wyrzykoeski, Loda, California; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
The services will be private.
