All lanes east and west bound on I-80/94 at Chase Street are still closed. Traffic is being diverted off west bound at Grant Street and traffic east bound is being diverted off at Cline Avenue. A power pole was compromised causing the lines to come down closing the interstate.
NIPSCO IS ON SCENE. POWER has been turned OFF. NIPSCO is advising that the earliest the interstate will be open is noon-12:30 p.m. They have to put a new power pole in and restring the lines across the interstate.
Troopers are trying to get traffic that has been stuck in traffic on the interstate turned around and off the highway.
PLEASE seek alternate routes. Traffic is very heavy on Ridge Road and 25th Avenue. Indiana Toll Road is one alternate if you need to travel today; if not stay away from this area!!
