Columbus Man Killed in Bartholomew County Crash

Yesterday, January 3, 2019, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash in rural Bartholomew County that claimed the life of an 18 year old Columbus man and sent an 18 year old Columbus woman to an Indianapolis hospital with serious injuries.

The initial investigation by Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionist Trp. Matt Holley indicated that a 2006 Mazda passenger car, being driven by Kyle N. Hall, age 18, Columbus, Indiana was traveling northbound on County Road 250 East, just north of County Road 275 South. For an unknown reason, Hall lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the east side of the roadway and rolled several times before coming to a stop.

As a result of the collision, Kyle Hall sustained fatal injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he passed away as a result of his injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Lilly E. Hall, age 18, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and sustained serious injuries. She was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana for treatment.

Toxicology results are pending at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Hall family has been notified.

It is believed that Kyle and Lilly Hall were married.

Trp. Holley was assisted by Troopers David Owsley and Derek Eggers, Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, Columbus Regional EMS, Elizabethtown Fire Department, and Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office.
