Russell Otho Shields, age 90, of Salem, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019, at Meadow View Health and Rehab Center in Salem. Born on April 27, 1929, in Salem Indiana, he was the son of the late Claude Shields and Hazel (Tatlock) Shields.
Russell was an Army Veteran. He was a retired farmer and truck driver. He was a member of Canton Christian Church.
He is survived by his son, Riley Shields (Kalen); three daughters, Beverly Shields (Lynn), Susan Collins, and Sharon Clark (Richard); 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Shields; son, Russell O. Shields Jr.; daughter, Brenda Shields; 2 brothers, Norman Shields and Claude Shields; 3 sisters, Ellen Bidgood, Stella Woodsmall, and Signa Chaskell; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 AM at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 PM, and Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
