Two Pekin men were involved in an altercation on Saturday morning, resulting in one being stabbed.

On Saturday, February 22, 2020, at approximately 11:23 am, Washington County Deputies were dispatched to East Karnes Court in Pekin, Indiana in reference to a battery complaint between two male subjects.

There were no arrests at this time and one male refused to give a statement to the police.

Deputies arrived at East Karnes Court and were met by Jacob Crady, age 38 of Pekin, Indiana.

Crady advised the deputies that he had been involved in an altercation with another male subject earlier, who lives in a separate apartment complex on East Karnes Court.

Crady said the other male subject, who he identified as “Dustin” aggressively advanced on Crady with a hammer and Crady stabbed “Dustin” with a pocket knife, in self defense.

Crady further advised the deputies that “Dustin” got into “Dustin’s” vehicle and left the scene.

While deputies were taking a statement from Crady, the deputies received information that Dustin Brading, age 32 of Pekin, Indiana had arrived at St. Vincent Salem Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Salem City Police Major Eric Mills responded to St. Vincent Hospital to speak with Brading, who refused to give a statement, regarding the altercation with Crady.

Captain Joe Keltner is investigating the altercation and is being assisted by Mills and Reserve Officer Jacob Silverthorn.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

Please call the Washington County Sheriff’s Department at (812)883-5999 and speak with Captain Joe Keltner if you have any information regarding the altercation between Crady and Brading.
