The Scott County Health Department received documentation that the county has its first death of a long term care facility resident due to coronavirus.

SCHD did not reveal the name of the facility.

The patient had pre-existing health conditions which put the patient in a high risk category for complications.

The resident had been hospitalized for care when they passed.

Local health officer, Dr. R. Kevin Rogers, states “We send condolences to the family and friends of the one who passed. This is a glaring reminder of the severity of this disease. The community must listen to the guidance of the experts and practice all the ways to not spread this disease including wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. We all must protect those who are most vulnerable.”
