Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Beaty Construction Inc. plans to resume work next week on the new approach for the Madison-Milton Bridge in Madison. The new alignment opened to traffic last June and is expected to be complete this spring.
Starting on or after Monday, April 12, crews will return to the area to begin moving dirt and placing sod throughout project limits. Traffic impacts should be minimal with the possibility of lane closures and flagging as needed.
In early May, crews will begin placing the final asphalt surface between Walnut Street and the bridge. This work will take place under lane closures with flagging. Following paving, a section of Main Street from Walnut Street to St. Michaels Avenue will be restriped to match the configuration of the bridge approach. Crosswalk markings at East Street will be enhanced and parking will remain available on the north side of Main Street.
Motorists should slow down, use caution, and drive distraction-free in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
