A Hardinsburg man died in a logging accident near Campbellsburg Tuesday evening.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department Kent Smith, age 67 of Hardinsburg, Indiana was struck by a falling tree that was being cut behind him, by a male juvenile of Campbellsburg, Indiana.
Police said the accident took place at 8133 North White River Road.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the section of the tree that struck Smith had been removed by the juvenile.
Washington County Deputies along with the Washington County Ambulance Service and First Responders with the Campbellsburg Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the site about 7:30p Tuesday.
Deputy Gavin Hurst is the investigating officer and was assisted by the Washington County Coroner’s Office, the Washington County Ambulance Service and First Responders from the Campbellsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
