Lester B. Sowder, age 67 of Salem, passed away Wednesday, October 5,
2022 at 5:17 pm, in St. Vincent Salem Hospital.
Born May 24, 1955 in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of the late James
Russell and Nancy Mildred (Nolan) Sowder.
He had been a life resident of Washington County and was a 1973 graduate
of Salem High School.
On January 25, 1974 he married Rhonda R. (Richardson) Sowder.
Lester was a retired logger and farmer, a past President and donator of
property to the Winslow Cemetery Association, was a member of Salem
V.F.W. Post #6636 and Salem Moose Lodge #2380 and served on the Delaney
Park Board.
Survivors include: Wife: Rhonda R. (Richardson) Sowder. Son: Jeremy
(Andrea) Sowder of Salem; Daughter: Robin (Stephen) McClain of Salem;
Brother: Dearl Sowder of Carlisle, Indiana; 5 grandchildren: Reymington,
Hunter and Renee McClain, Nathan and Kaden Sowder and a great grandson
Waylon McClain.
Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Sunday at Dawalt Funeral Home with Bro. Larry
Dalton & Richard Richardson officiating.
Visitation: 2 to 7 pm Saturday and from Noon to 2 pm Sunday. Interment
will follow the funeral service at Winslow Cemetery near Salem.
