Beginning Tuesday, October 10, State Road 56 will be closed for up to 3 days to apply asphalt and begin finishing up the project.
According to Indiana Department of Transportation Spokesperson Sidney Hoene, this will be final coat of asphalt.
“After the pavement is laid, crews will begin paving approaches (street and drives) and installing traffic markings and signs,” she said.
Hoene said work is expected to be complete by October 27.
“With that being said, it could open to the public prior to that date as well,” she said. “All work is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.”
Access to all properties will be maintained while work is in progress.
The official detour will follow S.R. 135 to U.S. 150 to S.R. 56, although motorists have found their own shortcuts and detours around the project.
