Lions, Musketeers Play in First Round, Senators Get Bye

Three-hundred eleven (311) teams learned their sectional opponents this evening via WSLM 97.9 FM and WSLM 1220 AM on IHSAA Champions Radio Network.

The 51st Annual IHSAA Football State Tournament presented by the Indianapolis Colts is set to begin Oct. 20 with first round games in Classes 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A.

Classes 6A and 5A have that week off.

The Salem Lions will play at Madison on Friday, October 20 in the Class 3A Sectional 32 game. 

The Eastern Musketeers will travel to Indianapolis to face Christel House Manual in the Class 2A Sectional 39 game. 

West Washington Senators drew the bye and will play on October 27 and face the winner of the Springs Valley vs South Spencer game. 

In their last week of regular season play, the Lions will travel to Campellsburg to face the Senators on Art Sanders Field. 

The Lions are 1-7 after last week’s lost to Charlestown, 46-22.

Eastern will face Charlestown at home this Friday after a 19-0 shutout by Clarksville last week. 

The Senators welcome the Lions this week after a big win over Crawford County, 62-6. 

Sectional semifinal games will be played on Oct. 27, sectional championship games on Nov. 3, regionals on Nov. 10, semi-states on Nov. 17 and the state championship games on Nov. 24-25.

The 12 teams earning a berth in the state finals will play on Thanksgiving weekend in Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, the state tournament’s presenting sponsor since 2009.
