After a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Boyd Wayne Wright, 76, of Borden, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 10, 2023.

The second of 4 boys, Boyd was born in Borden on March 6, 1947 to the late Marvin and Maysel Wright.  He graduated from Borden High School in 1965, where he was proud to be a “Borden Berry”.

For two years after high school, Boyd attended Indiana University Southeast before marrying his love,
Jaquetta, on July 29, 1967. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year!

The couple moved to Bloomington, Indiana where Boyd continued his college education at Indiana
University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Education in September of 1969.

For seven years after college, he taught Business and Typing; First at Hazelwood Middle School then at
Floyd Central High School. He also went on to earn his Master of Science in Education from Indiana University in May of 1974.

While teaching, Boyd started selling insurance and in 1977 he left his teaching career behind to pursue a
new career in insurance sales out of The Hartfield Company in New Albany, IN.

In October 1983, he earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, an achievement that he
was immensely proud of. Boyd focused on insurance sales for ten years before stepping into the world
of Securities and Investments. In 1994, he earned the prestigious Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
designation from The College for Financial Planning.

After 41 years in the insurance and securities industry, Boyd retired in 2018. He was a member of The First Christian Church of Borden. He loved a good round of golf, cold beers with friends
and his Indiana Hoosiers. As a proud alumnus, he was a season ticket holder for IU basketball and
football.

Boyd is survived by his wife, Jaquetta; his son, Jonathan; three brothers, Les (Janet), Bruce (Connie), and
Jerry (Rose); 18 nieces and nephews; and 15 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Maysel Wright.

Visitation will be held at the First Christian Church of Borden on Thursday, October 12, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m, and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 13, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Borden, located at 1532 East Water Street in Borden, with burial to follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
