James Bradley (Brad) Daugherty, 76, Paoli, IN who Passed February 2, 2024 at the home of his companion, Carolyn Kerby-Jones. Born February 2, 1948, in Bedford, IN. He was the son of Samuel Ray Daugherty and Jeanette Campbell Daugherty, both of whom preceded him.
Brad was preceded in death by an infant: Bradley Shannon. He was also preceded by his brothers: Jack & Melvin Daugherty and two sisters: Geraldine Nodine and Gloria Anderson.
He graduated from Paoli High School in the Class of 1966 and went straight to work.
He retired from Mac Construction and The Operating Engineers 181 of Louisville, KY. Although, retiring did not slow Brad down at all. After retiring he started his own business doing excavating and grave digging services as well as hauling various items. He hauled everything from stinky hog hides to equipment and livestock.
Although Brad was extremely devoted to his work, he also enjoyed taking a break to drive his side-by-side over to Hometown Scoops for some ice cream.
Brad’s greatest passion was his horses. He was an avid horseman and in his younger years had participated in many parades and trail rides across the state. Even in his last days he enjoyed talking horses with his fellow horseman.
Brad was a perfect example of a “Good Ole Boy”. He was an extremely hard worker and the word “quit” wasn’t even in his vocabulary. He lived on the same farm that he grew up on. Anyone who called on him for help knew that they could always depend on him and that he would treat them fairly.
