The opening two weeks of pairings have been announced for the 114th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament presented by the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever.
Sectional games are scheduled to begin Tuesday, Feb. 27, and run through Saturday, March 2 with regionals on Saturday, March 9.
Salem, Eastern and West Washington all open sectional action on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
The Salem Lions (3-18) will take on Silver Creek (12-8) on Tuesday, Feb. 27 in the first game of the Class 3A Scottsburg sectional.
North Harrison will play Scottsburg in the second game followed by Charlestown and Corydon.
Madison drew the bye and will play the winner of the Salem – Silver Creek game.
West Washington opens the Class 1A Borden Sectional with Christian Academy in the first game followed by Lanesville and South Central in the second game.
Eastern opens the 2A Sectional at Southwestern Hanover on February 27 in the first game against Providence.
Clarksville plays Southwestern in game two followed by Henryville and Brownstown. Austin drew the bye and will play the winner of the Eastern – Hanover game.
For the second year, the regional is a single-game championship, and the semi-state a two-game affair with the winner advancing to the state championship game.
Two regional championship games will be played back to-back at the same site with the winners finding out their next opponent and host site the following day.
The semi-state games – scheduled for Saturday, March 16 – will be randomly drawn and announced in a special pairings show via the IHSAA network.
The four state championship games that make up the State Finals will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, March 30.
That date is a week later than normally scheduled due to Gainbridge Fieldhouse hosting the NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second Round Tournament games.
