Investigators with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post and the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office are releasing the identity of the man who died after being shot by police in an incident at the Hollywood Casino & Hotel in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
The deceased has been identified as Milo L. Kirsh, age 45, Avon, Indiana.
Officers from the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called to the fourth floor of the Hollywood Hotel in the early morning hours after Kirsh was acting erratically and had allegedly chased another guest with a knife, causing minor injuries.
Upon arrival, the officers learned that Kirsh was now firing a gun on the fourth floor where numerous other guests were staying.
Three officers went to the fourth floor where they quickly located Kirsh in the hallway. An officer gave Kirsh orders to drop the handgun he was holding.

Detectives with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post were asked to conduct the investigation into the incident.
ISP said an autopsy was conducted on Kirsh Monday to determine the cause of death. The results are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
One other person sustained minor injuries from the incident after confronting Kirsh for his erratic behavior prior to police arriving.
Police said that the injured victim and Kirsh are not believed to have known one another. No other injuries were reported.
The Indiana State Police says that they were assisted on the scene by the Lawrenceburg Police Department, Dearborn and Ohio Counties Prosecutor’s Office, Dearborn County Coroner’s Office, and Hollywood Casino Hotel Staff.
