Larry. J. “Joby” Smith, 59, passed away Sunday morning
Joby (legally known as Larry J. Smith Jr) was born in New Albany IN was the son of the late Larry J. Smith Sr and Janet S (Gibson) Pate.
Joby loved spending time with family and friends, aggravating his
grandchildren, belting out some karaoke, and you could find him at the golf course six days a week.
Joby could command a room with his storytelling, would give you the shirt off his back, and was never afraid to explain to the church-going people where the rain came from.
Joby was preceded in death by his late wife Cindy Ravenette (Gilstrap) Smith of 23 years, his brother Donald R Jeffrey Jr, and stepdaughter Jessica McCutcheon.
Survivors include:
Mother Janet Pate of New Albany, Indiana; Son Bradley (William) Villegas of Leavenworth, Indiana; Daughter, Jessica Guthrie of Pekin, Indiana; Companion, Melody Fannin of Pekin, Indiana; Stepdaughter Rusty Holt of Salem, Indiana; Stepson, Jeremy McCutcheon of Clark County, Indiana;Brother Kevin (Amy) Smith of Central Indiana and Brother, Mark Smith of New Albany, Indiana; He is also survived by 11 grandchildren
and five great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation Saturday, February 1st from 12 Noon to 5 pm at Dawalt Funeral Home in Salem.
